As water goes down a drain air is needed to equalize the pressure in the drain line.

The center of the lavs drain is located 18 approximately above the finished floor. When a branch line connects to a main drain line the fitting should always be a wye. When water runs down your drains or toilets it can fill the pipe and create a vacuum.
There are a couple of ways to run a shower vent. When you think of clogged plumbing blockages in drain pipes are probably the first issue that comes to mind. The bathroom sinks water lines are roughed-in 3 inches above the drain.
